SEO, or search engine optimization, is a somewhat new Internet-related field that deals with online marketing. A SEO company combines the use of targeted keywords, SEO copywriting and external link building to help Internet search engines find and index your site. There are many different components that make up effective search engine optimization. Simply using one or two of them will help your site, but combining several SEO marketing techniques is much more effective.

Produce great content. Writing engaging content that is both keyword-friendly and interesting to your readers helps people find your site. It also keeps viewers returning to your site for more information. An SEO business should strive to produce the best and most captivating material.

Google bots rate links according to the value of their page rank, so having dozens of links from a site with a low page rank or lots of spam won’t help your site.
Produce original material. An SEO business should never steal content from other Web sites. It also helps if your blog or Web site has original content that is somewhat unique and of interest to readers.
Use social bookmarking sites. Social bookmarking sites like Bringr, Digg and and Propeller help advertise your site to thousands of Web viewers.

Link to related sites. If your site is about video games, you should attempt to link to other sites that discuss the same topic.

All companies are trying to find out how to get the most out of organic search traffic. Yet, sometimes it just seems like no matter what you do, you’re not getting ranked any higher than page 10 or 15 on a google search. Well there are about 4 main things that you need to be optimized, and there’s a good chance you don’t have any of them working for you.  So here’s a brief list of how to help get your site search-ready for some good old DIY Search Engine Optimization. Of course this won’t jump you up to number one, but it should get you off on a good foot and maybe show you how important organic search really is.

Step 1. Check your tags.

No, not on your car, but your meta-tags. You know that think at the top that probably says UNTITLED right now. That should say exactly what your site and page is about. Use keywords. Are you using anchor text the right way? Instead of using a click (here) with the “here” linked up, put a phrase to click on.

Step 2. Know your keywords.

If you’re focusing on selling skateboards online, then by god, talk about skateboards online. You need to know what keywords your customers are looking for and get them in the mix. But don’t just throw random words together, it has to make sense still. Just google what you want to be number one in and take a look at their content and keyword use. It’s not cheating, it’s learning!

Step 3. Increase the content.

No one gets up to number one by having a page with 10 words on it. In Search Engine Optimization, content is king these days, so start writing. Take the time to write some really good content, and lots of it. In-depth descriptions of your products, featured posts related to your site and industry. If you are indeed selling those skateboards, why not post a blog on some of the newer brands that are coming out that you happen to stock? Just more content to put on your site chock full of relevant keywords. That’s one of the core ideas of SEO.

Step 4. Get those backlinks

There are so many top sites that can give you great one-way backlinks. You should certainly take advantage of what the the social bookmarking sites and public blogging sites have to offer. Also, contributing content to sites in your industry is a great way to begin building up your search engine popularity.
Hopefully this can help you get off to a good start on at least understanding how to optimize your site for search engines. If you are really trying to make an impact, hiring a professional SEO consultant wouldn’t be a bad idea, but if you’re on a shoestring budget just trying to get off the ground, these tips can certainly help you out. I recently had a bunch of recommendations by internet marketing gurus to take a look at a tool called Only Submitter. Here is what it is supposed to do:

I disagree with her. Directories are key to ranking for someone that doesn’t know the intricacies of link building.

A sales pitch is just that, a sales pitch.

I created the software and it is simply amazing. I’ve never had one piece of software that does so many different things. I am able to complete link building for my sites in less than half the time that it used to take me.

There are other methods of link building that work very well, but this is the only submitter I’ve ever seen that does what it says it will do.

The biggest thing you can do is build links to your blog. Here are my top 5 favorite things to do:

1) Submit your blog’s pages to social bookmarking sites like Delicious, Digg, Redditt
2) Comment on other blogs in your niche
3) Write guest posts on other related blogs
4) Write related articles and submit them to article directories like EzineArticles
5) Write related articles and submit them to Web 2.0 sites like Hubpages, Squidoo, Blogger

Also, when possible, put the keyword(s) you are targeting in the anchor text of your blog

I am wanting to start blogging full-time, in order to drive traffic to my website, however am stuck with how to optimize and increase my blog search traffic! What are the best SEO, traffic and exposure tips for bloggers, and are there any online companies that specialise in offering search marketing solutions to bloggers? I’m especially wanting to save time and money (in order to concentrate on my blogging and not my blog marketing!). I would appreciate any opinion or response! Cheers

I am sure everyone can earn full time from blogging. It’s just the first steps that are difficult as is the same as any other businesses.

Here are my answers for your question.

1. Use blogger platform if you want to be listed in search engines fast.
2. Blog the topic you are expert in. If you have many topics, divide them into categories. Know what is the keywords you wish to focus on.
3. Always update with a lot of relevant content. I would say update it daily. Content is the king.
4. Submit your blog to RSS directories when you have build up your content volume.
5. It is also good that you tap on the social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, digg, furl, squidoo, stumbleupon, reddit, just to name a few. These are the latest trend in web now.
6. When you think your blog is decent enough with good content, now is the time to move out and contact other bloggers with similar topic as yours. Link building here is the key. It will shoot you up the search engines if you link properly.

I am sure there are companies doing that. Just do a search or visit some article directories for details.
